CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Members of The Christmas Connection’s board of directors are pleased to announce that the capital campaign we launched in fall 2008 for the purpose of purchasing a new headquarters facility has passed the important halfway mark. We wish to thank the donors who have brought us to this point, and also encourage others who have not yet made a financial commitment to do so this summer.
The capital campaign was necessitated by the sale of our longtime home on S.W. 25th (Commerce St. in Capitol Hill) to Oklahoma City Community College, and it was the golden opportunity we needed to search for a facility that would be more cost effective to operate and more user-friendly for our customers and volunteers alike. Operating our programs for so many years out of an aging, multi-level former department store with limited heat and no air conditioning has been challenging at best, so we are very excited about the potential of our new facility.
We recently closed on the purchase of a one-story building located at S.W. 59th and S. May Ave., and will be relocating there during summer 2009. Our new location is at the intersection of two major thoroughfares, and has ample parking. The new store is also on a bus route and close to I-44, so it will be very visible and accessible to customers and donors alike. Moreover, the new site has the potential for expanding our operations in the years ahead.
We wish to thank the following donors who have made significant financial commitments to this $1.5 million effort:
- Anonymous Family Foundation
- James R. Brown Foundation
- Chesapeake Energy
- The Christmas Connection’s Board of Directors
- Devon Energy
- E.L. and Thelma Gaylord Foundation
- Meinders Foundation
- Panhandle Oil & Gas
- Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation
